Lesson 4, #1
I wrote an essay about education for deaf people. I have a couple of sources for this essay: The American School for the Deaf site has a section about the History of Deaf Education in America, and Jamie Berke wrote an article called Deaf People and English on About.com. History of Deaf Education in America shows that education for the deaf has improved throughout history and we can learn more about it by reading up on their culture to understand how education impacts deaf people. Deaf People and English were critiqued on how deaf education affects deaf students to learn about the English language. I agree with Berke about how deaf education impacts deaf students because of their English skills. Jamie Berke and I both feel that deaf education should be improved by teaching students to understand the English language better to help them for prepare their future.
